Modet at THAW 2015

On March 19th, Modet Dance Collective was honored to perform at Links Hall's annual performance art and dance showcase THAW. We had an amazing evening, and performed White Flash from last year's show, choreographed by Melissa Talleda and myself. Enjoy these pics!

Aliens on the Run

Our amazingly talented friends Kate and Dan have animated yet another awesome cartoon, this time of friends and all around funny tv people Key and Peele. And once again, they've been so nice as to animate Fuzzy and I and friends into the cartoon!

Where've I Been?

Good question.

EVERYWHERE.

Lots going on.

1) Modet and Shmib reached our Kickstarter Goal!! We even exceeded our amount!! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED! This show is going to be epic.

2) Modet performed at Links Hall's annual "Hot Night of Ballyhoo" THAW on Thursday. It was an honor to be counted among the performers--the whole evening was incredible. There were performance artists, scream coaches, giant mop people, and dance dance dance. We had a blast. It made me remember why Chicago is so great. Afterwards, I said that I wanted to live in that world all the time--a world where you can just be who you are and create the weirdest art you can dream of, wear whatever you want and be accepted for who you are. But the truth is, I DO live in that world, and I am very blessed to be able to do so. I just need to remember that more instead of stressing out all the time.

3) Starting next month, Steve Gadlin's Star Makers is going to be broadcast in 20 cities! It's been a lot of hard work, but it is paying off. See the map of cities (including in Biloxi) here: http://sgstarmakers.com/tune-in/

4) In February I went on tour with She's Crafty and ho-ly crap it was the most fun ever. Living that rockstar life, yo.

Lots of pics and things to come.

(I just have to get over this stomach flu first...)

We are almost to our Kickstarter Goal!

Thank you to everyone who has supported Modet and Shmib's fundraiser for Collected and Conscious this June! We have just over $400 to go, so if you were considering donating but haven't yet, now's the time! Thank you again!

My name made the poster, y'all

VROOM VROOM!

Since Fuzzy and I have been surrounded with the fascinating and incredibly entertaining world of professional wrestling for a while now, it seemed right to casually mention one night a couple months ago that all I needed to do was go to a monster truck rally and all my dreams would come true. Literally. I’ve been dreaming about monster truck rallies most of my life—more so when I was younger, but it’s not atypical for one every now and then now.

A few weeks ago, he messages me.

“Do you have any plans tonight?”

I didn’t!

“Can I take you out on a date?”

I would love that so much!

“Ok! Dress for a Skynyrd concert and bring your earplugs.”

I was SO EXCITED. We could have been going to a concert, but deep down in my heart, I was hoping it was something else.

A Monster Truck Rally.

And it WAS!

And Ho-Ly shit. I was the most fun night ever.

Please enjoy these photos and videos from MORE MONSTER JAM at the Allstate Arena.

Scooby-Doo Monster Truck. Yep. There was also a Rottweiler.
Yeah, so I guess monster truck rallies are mostly for kids.

Which makes sense, cause I’m pretty much a 12 year old boy.

I know this means something other than what I WISH it meant, but it was still exciting.

Towards the end, this started happening a lot:

It was scary, but everyone was ok.

Especially these guys!
