May 2014 Archives

We're getting closer and closer to our big show on June 15th! You don't want to miss it. Tickets are $12 at the door, showtime 8pm at Stage 773! I'm excited to show the world our pieces, and I can't wait to share the stage with the talented playwrights from the Living Room Playmakers.

I love this photo, taken by Chad Eschman of LRP, at a recent rehearsal. I love the lighting, the energy, and how we all look so happy. We are performing one of Melissa Talleda's pieces here.

See it yourself!

Ericas at Dreamland Roller Rink

If you recall, back in 2009, Fuzzy and I went to Coney Island, and we stumbled upon this amazing roller skating rink that happened to be having a Purple Rain Party. It was a truly magical evening. You can read about it here.

Yesterday, I was thinking about how the shirt I bought that night is my all time favorite shirt.

It is incredibly comfy, I like how it looks on me, I like the fit of it, I like the design on it, and it makes me remember that night. I hopped over to the Dreamland Roller Rink site, and look what I found! The photos from the Purple Rain night are online!  Including this one, taken by Lola Star herself!!

The Ericas rocking our "What Dreams Are Made Of" custom tshirts! CLASSIC!

Check out this awesome short film about the creation of the Dreamland Roller Rink, and you can see even more how amazing it is that we got to experience it.

So cool! Life is neat. :)

14 Years!

14 years ago, me and my scrawny 1 year old cat made the big leap and moved from small town Mississippi to a tiny little studio apartment on Belmont in Big City Chicago.

This was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.

Thanks to Chicago, I:

Met and married my amazing husband.
Had life-changing surgery.
Made the best friends I could ever ask for.
Performed countless shows.
Created some of the dumbest and most fun comedy ever.
Choreographed countless shows.
Have been on TV.
Was photographed by a world-class photographer.
Visited the most amazing places.
Eaten so much incredible food.
Created the life I only dreamed was possible.
(and so much more!!)

I am so incredibly blessed and grateful for all my experiences over the years. The City of Chicago has been good to me. We'll see what happens next!

She's Crafty this Thursday!

This Thursday, I will be making my debut with the INCREDIBLE All-Female Beastie Boys tribute, She's Crafty! DJ ENRG will be in the house rocking the beats on stage with MCAmy, Ken D and MagRock. I am so excited for this gig, I can't handle it. All the shows I get to do are cool, but this has to be the coolest. I'm living my BBoy dreams!

Interview on The Pullbox!

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Eric of The Pullbox about the art of burlesque, along with fellow GTB'ers Kaitlin Fleharty and Cassie Dennis. Check it out here!

On May 2, Modet Dance Collective had the pleasure of performing at the Bridgeport Art Center on the opening night of their Artemisia After 40 gallery opening. We previewed 4 pieces, and the show went great! Here are some great photos from rehearsal and performance, taken by none other than by the best man in the whole world, Fuzzy Gerdes.

We are now prepping for our full show June 15th at 8:00pm at Stage773, where we will be presenting 6 pieces intersperced with readings, songs, and plays by members of the Living Room Playmakers. Don't miss it!

Funny Ha-Ha

I am SO EXCITED that I will be appearing this Friday at the amazing reading series, Funny Ha-Ha, curated and hosted by my super righteous bud Claire Zulkey. Look at this amazing lineup! It's an honor to be included in this group.

Hope to see you there!
